Seven-year-old Nash was born addicted to heroin and for the first several months, he screamed, slept or ate.  At the age of 2, he was not speaking despite going to speech therapy.  At around 3 years of age, he was diagnosed with Autism.  At that time he still mostly screamed, head butted and pounded his toys against the floor and wall.

Shortly thereafter he started going to an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program and made good gains.  He now talks.  However, he still has behavioral issues when he is anxious or upset.

Nash has always lived with his grandparents but at the age of 2 1/2 his mother left with no way to contact her.  A few weeks later, his grandparents took custody due to abandonment.

Nash's grandfather is a guitar player and because of Nash's interest in the guitar, he has started to teach him to play.  He also loves to swim, play with animals and play sports of all kinds but he struggles to follow sports rules.

Nash cannot access education effectively without the support and training that ABA therapy provides.  He was asked to leave one school and the St. Alberts's Autism Program accepted him under the stipulation that he receive ABA services.  However, his insurance will not cover those services.
